Embarrassing Twitter fail by Mother London

1 Mar

We’ve all felt the shame of having sent a link round the office that everyone saw weeks ago. Being late to the party is pretty forgiveable on the whole. But when a leading London advertising agency like Mother tweets something not just out of date, but way out of date and a hoax – that’s pretty humiliating.

Behold Mother’s latest tweet (click for bigger):

The link takes you to Google Translate for Animals – Google’s April Fool from last year. Ouch.

I don’t doubt that the offending tweet will be taken down post haste once they realise – but plenty of people have already spotted it. Way to be the zeitgeist, guys!

OldSnatch.com – Match.com advert parody

15 Feb

Who else is cursed with getting the ‘I like old movies’ song from the UK Match.com TV ad (here if you haven’t seen it) in their head for the rest of the week every time the ad comes on? We’ve seen it so many times in my house that Andrew and I have made up our own lyrics involving ‘old moobies’ (as in man boobs/moobs).

However, comedy group Newsagent Provocateur have done a much, much better job with this brilliant spoof:

Even the agency who made the original ad, Mother London, have retweeted it – which shows a commendable sense of humour on their behalf. I can imagine a lot of agencies would baulk at the word ‘snatch’ and run screaming, pretending the parody didn’t exist. So kudos for that, Mother – even if you have infected my brain with the worst kind of earworm over the last few weeks. Damn catchy song.
